My name is Monika. I am a mother and a creative entrepreneur. I started my first business House of Koopslie in my home with a dream. My products sold in over 600 stores, my business was featured in several media outlets, and I even ended up winning the Small Supplier of the Year Award from the Canadian Gift Association! But the road there hasn’t always been easy.
Growing my brand and business from the ground up over the last 10 years has been challenging and rewarding and it’s also given me extensive experience with managing all aspects of a small business, including branding, manufacturing and supplying my line to stores across the world. I sold my first line of kids hats to over 100 baby and kids stores and my second line been sold in over 600 stores across Canada, the United States, and Japan with one account generating over $100,000 in annual revenue. In January 2020, I sold House of Koopslie and started Koopslie Consulting.
Now I’d love to share that expertise with you, so you too can be that success story everyone talks about.
At the very start of my first business, when I was researching and trying to learn everything I could, I had the opportunity to work with a consultant who had her own very successful line. Her line was selling to hundreds of stores across North America. At the time the cost seemed too high and I didn’t take her up on it. I wish I had. It took me a few years to realize that that opportunity would have saved me 100s and likely 1000s of hours and so much money. I realize now (thanks hindsight!) that I would have been successful way sooner and for way less money, had I taken her up on it.
Once my business was growing like crazy (which was such a rush!), I was ready to start working with a mentor. I knew that I needed to find someone who not only had experience in the business world, but who had been there done that. I wanted to meet someone who had a product line that sold to 100s of stores and I wanted to learn from them. The thing about this industry is that there are a lot of brands that come and go and finding a mentor that had ran a successful brand isn’t the easiest thing in the world. It took a long time to find Janet, and when I did, I flew out to see her for a few days of intense learning and coaching. I came back with a clear vision and a mentor, that supported me with weekly check ins. This helped me immensely and it can help you, too.
I didn't grow this business on my own.
Along the way there were people and organizations that helped me, coached and mentored me, and cheered me on to keep going and to keep growing.
I've learned a lot over the last 10 years and have had great success growing my businesses.
My passions have turned to wanting to use my knowledge and experience to help others grow their businesses.
